Interesting article in yesterday's WSJ.

Montauk is a very special place for surfcasting. I can see why the locals would be annoyed with this guy if they were plugging away a pencil popper with this guy bobbing around the blitz.

Paul Melnyk is not new to Montauk, either is that story. He has been doing it for years. He is not even near the pencil poppers when he is there, they can't cast that far. Let him have his fun, he is alot less annoying then the surfers there.

I really don't see the original argument. What was the harm in the method? Now, the rules are quite clear!
It kind of reminds me of the time I was fishing off a public pier and hauling in some pretty good fish when an old-timer came up and told me I was doing it wrong, and that I was in his spot!
I'm STILL doing it wrong, and I like it that way!

Fish, fish, fish, sleep. Repeat.
